I'm considering working in public as a way to generate a following ahead of of formally launching my service. In addition to a personal blog, Twitter, IndieHackers, and Dev.To are there any locations the community would recommend for reaching developers with a entrepreneurial bent?
Also are there any recommendations for content scheduling/publishing tools?
I've been considering doing something similar! Are you thinking live-streaming coding, design, etc? Or something different?
My initial plan is to post text/pic on the channels I mentioned in my post. Similar to what @derrickreimer has been doing on Twitter and his blog
Livestreaming is a very good idea. @mijustin has been doing that lately. With my low follower count it's probably the perfect time to get a few under my belt to get comfortable with it.
I think lots of folks would enjoy learning about your journey in getting your ebook out the door
Thanks! IMO, the big obstacle to livestreaming is keeping it entertaining. If you're stumbling through stuff you don't understand, I wonder how to keep the audience engaged. I've enjoyed @mijustin's streams, though when he gets hung up on a technical issue, that's when I start losing focus. I dunno the best way to avoid that - in one sense, you want to be "raw". On the other hand, you'll lose people if you're stuck. Justin is a funny, interesting guy, which helps!
Hacker News is, of course, the largest community that I can think of with a tech+business interest.
For content scheduling/publishing, I use StoryChief: https://storychief.io
github is an obvious answer, although you might not want to show off your code so that understandable. codepen.io is a favorite place of mine for dev coolness.
I love http://amplifr.com. It is very simple and yet powerful.
