Hi guys,
I'm starting to plan a free tier of my tool, which is tough because I am struggling to know where to draw the line. I already have a 14 day free trial that required credit card details, but I want to do a full-on free account to get more users (and therefore word of mouth), and upsell to paid where I can.
In a nutshell, my product righthandman.io has 3 main features...
- Site auditor which checks for 20 - 30 site issues
- Educational material on WHY the "failed" results need fixing
- Educational material on HOW TO FIX the "failed" results
Site auditors are a dime a dozen, so I'm pitching mine as the tool for people that know nothing about SEO. It's easy to understand and teaches you everything, instead of just giving results.
Now I am considering approaching the free account one of two ways:
- Full access to 10 of the more basic auditor tests (eg broken images, missing page titles, descriptions, alt tags etc) with all the educational material for these tests. The upsell will be people who want to see the advanced tests (robots.txt, redirect issues, security issues etc). They will be able to see there site has XX amount of errors in the advanced test, but when the user clicks to see what they are, they will be alerted its premium paid accounts only.
or
- Full access to all the tests, and educational material on why it needs to be fixed, but the educational material on HOW to fix it is locked for the free plans.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Matt
