3 Tips from my 1st Podcast Appearance

I did my first podcast this morning! 🎉

It was for an engineering podcast called “Coffee and Coding.”

Here are 3 tips to help you shine on your next podcast ⬇️

  1. Preparation is key

Always ask the host beforehand for the list of topics and questions.

I recommend writing down your answers beforehand to be clear, concise, and stay on message.

I also recommend doing research on the host and podcast itself for potential talking points.

  1. Tell stories

The more stories you share, the more engaging the podcast is.

Stories of your failures are particularly good because they make you more relatable.

For example, one story I shared this morning was about how embarrassed I was to have been an SDE 1 at Amazon for almost three years (with no promotion in sight).

Most SDE 1's at Amazon get promoted in under 2 years.

  1. Ask for backlinks

Always ask the host if you can plug in something of your own at the end.

You can also ask to include backlinks in the description to whatever website you have to increase traffic and help build domain authority.
