3 users down. Trying to reach 10 by the end of September.

I’ve set myself a pretty simple goal for September.

Get Reqst from 3 real users to 10.

It’s a free tool I’ve been building for collecting and managing requests in one place.

I’ve spent a lot of time building, tweaking the UI and adding features, but I’m realising that building the product is only half the job.

So this month I’m focusing much more on distribution.

Sharing what I’m building, trying different communities, making short videos and speaking to people who might actually have the problem Reqst solves.

I’m not really interested in hundreds of signups that never come back yet.

I’d rather find 10 people who genuinely use it.

Goal for September 30th: 10 real users.

Currently: 3/10

I’ll share what works, and what doesn’t, along the way.

If you’re interested in trying it out, it’s completely free: reqst.co

Hey Adz, I saw your post about trying to get Reqst from 3 users to 10 by the end of September.

The part that caught my attention was that you're shifting from building toward distribution and trying to figure out where the next 7 real users are.

I'm testing a small $9 system called Demand Hunter that searches public conversations for people already describing the problem a product solves, instead of just picking communities and hoping the right people are there.

Since you already have 3 real users, I'd be interested in running a small hunt specifically for Reqst and seeing whether it can identify people who look like your existing users.

No pitch. I'd rather show you the actual signals it finds and let you decide if they're useful.

Just make sure your network aren't sugarcoating anything - you need honest feedback

    The 3 → 10 goal is a good test.

Which channel has brought the 3 users you have so far?

    1. 1

1 from X and 2 from my network

      1. 2

The next 7 users should tell you more than the first 3. I’d be interested in seeing which channel proves repeatable. Happy to compare notes privately — what’s the best email to reach you on?

real users vs dead signups is right but u never said what real means. 2 of ur 3 came from ur network too. is a second session the bar?

Good instinct putting 10 real over hundreds of dead signups — that's the right target at this stage. But one reframe on how to get there, because "try different communities and make videos" is spray, and at 3 users you want aim.

Your most valuable asset isn't a channel, it's the 3 people already using it. Before you broadcast anywhere, mine them: what do those 3 have in common? Same role, same specific chaos they escaped? Because Reqst solves a very articulable pain, drowning in requests scattered across Slack, email, DMs, "can you also add X" from six directions, and the person feeling that pain says it out loud. Your ICP is findable by the complaint. Someone posting "I keep losing track of feature requests / client asks / feedback everywhere" is your next user, mid-pain, describing your product for you.

So 3→10 isn't a distribution-volume problem, it's a pattern-match problem: figure out exactly what your 3 best users look like, then go find 7 more who match that precise profile, not "communities" in general. Same effort, aimed instead of sprayed.

And there's a dogfood angle you're sitting on: your own hunt for users is itself a request-collection problem. Collecting and organizing your user feedback in Reqst, in public, is both a demo and your product's origin story running live.

What do your 3 real users actually have in common — and if you can't answer that yet, that's the September goal hiding behind the "get to 10" one.
