We launched our product and now are looking into how to get the word around and find first users. There is a ton of pages that list new products. I'm skeptical when it comes to "paid" reviews like this one.
What's your opinion/experiences with paying to get featured?
no. go sell your product. this is chasing a shiny object that is distracting you from figuring out if you pmf yet
No.
Whichever number of newsletter signups / twitter readers / facebook followers etc they're trying to sell you on (in this case 20,000), you can confidently divide by 100–200. That's how many clicks you'll actually get. Multiply that by your expected visitors-to-paid conversion (1–5%) and expected LTV, and you'll get your answer.
Hi, we launched on betapage.co but the result were not significant.
Personally, I'd recommend against paying for it, but YMMV.
Us too... received more spam than anything :)
It entirely depends on if the product is very interesting to a broad audience. I've had success with betalist and also a flop.
Success example:
I created a landing page for an app called "Spoke" it would transcribe your meetings into text. It was before that was a "thing" it I got 270 people on the mailing list. And about 5x traffic. For $99 that was a good deal IMHO. I was able to run some great customer interviews from that user base.
(A broad audience liked it)
Failure example:
I created a landing page for a git backup tool "GitGuard" and got 1 signup and almost no visitors. I think that cost $149.
(Not so much)
