4 key tips for moving as fast as possible!

Hey IH. Wanted to share some tips for fellow indie hackers. #1 and most important. Move fast and keep growing. That's it.

I've been working on http://Superadmin.so. A no-code visual testing tool. Yesterday we shipped multi-user (teams). We did this through a combination of finding the right libraries to integrate with, vetting them, and working with them to facilitate the necessary steps (invitations, permissions and multi-tenant). The groundwork had already been laid as the app is built around multi-tenancy but still, being able to ship teams in 1 day is critical when a big customer is knocking on the door and requires this feature.

Today we shipped scheduling release builds automatically, and audit logs for viewing changes (and who committed them).

These features would typically take months and but by keeping a Move fast and ship option mentality, we're able to get them done in a day.

Here's some tips on shipping fast.

#1 Start from first principles, do I really need this feature, and if so what is the minimum I can do to acheive it.

#2 Pair down scope, find the smallest scope possible to the extent you can and move towards just that portion.

#3 Don't use anything fancy, sometimes startups want to look like big co's and integrate 10-20 different tools to feel like they're running a big org. This isn't necessary, stick to the basics that help you get the main tasks done in record time.

#4 Plan ahead, yesterday I woke up with the plan to complete this exact feature, and was polishing it up by lunch. I had been researching some bits the night before.

Shipping fast is the most important aspect of startups. If you're shipping too fast and breaking things, you should check out Superadmin. We want to help startups build faster by making testing as easy and fast as possible. Cheers.
