40k Pageviews in under a month! Milestone hit for my stock market site!
Hey everyone,
I just passed a pretty big milestone on a website project that I started less than a month ago. For those interested it's https://www.rocketrecap.com/ . Basically, the idea behind the website was to create a super basic website that had a bunch of stock market news, alerts and articles all on one simple webpage - similar to a DrudgeReport. The website gathers articles and alerts from stock market outlets like MarketWatch, Benzinga, Motley Fool and more. On top of that, it also get hot posts from wallstreetbets and other stock market subreddits.
I got a lot of positive feedback about the site, you don't have to go to 15 different outlets to get your stories any longer, the hottest news articles are always here.
For those interested how I grew the site I did a couple things:
Posted on stock maret related subreddits. Biggest piece of advise when you are going to end up promoting something in, specifically a stock market subreddit, is to provide value of some sort for free. So I would basically take some hot news articles that day and provide insight on them, and then tell them how I found the articles and why my site is better than Googling. I got a ton of traffic from the posts.
I did do one paid promotion, that was through Twitter, and that also did well, and the better part is that users appeared to come back the following days. Obviously, if you do paid promos make sure you are in the same niche as your target audience. And if your audience is on another platform like TikTok or Instagram do it there instead of Twitter or wherever else - follow your audience.
SEO - Its a little harder with SEO on this type of site, but now rank 1 for "rocket recap stocks" "stock rocket recap" and a couple others, so that helps too.
Lastly, I'm thinking about making this a Chrome extension, so when you open a new tab this site pops up - let me know if you guys like this idea!
