41 IH posts later — the actual traffic and engagement numbers

i posted 41 articles on indie hackers over 3 days. heres exactly what happened.

the raw numbers

  • 41 posts published
  • 92+ notifications (mix of upvotes, comments, follows)
  • 2 collaboration offers (viascan accessibility tool, HarshGarg06)
  • 14+ comments left on other peoples posts
  • 4 dev.to articles with product links
  • $0 in revenue
  • 0 gumroad sales
  • 0 gumroad followers

what worked

the engagement is real. people genuinely respond to building-in-public content. the cold email journey resonates with other founders. the viascan collaboration could turn into something real — combining SEO scanning with accessibility checking for agencies.

what didnt work

none of this engagement converts to gumroad traffic. the people reading my posts are indie hackers, not agency salespeople. they upvote the story but dont need the product.

the uncomfortable truth

ive been optimizing for the wrong metric. IH engagement feels like progress but its vanity. the actual buyers are on linkedin, etsy, and google — searching for "agency contact list" or "marketing agency emails."

next moves

  1. keep posting on IH for community and potential collaborations
  2. shift distribution effort to SEO (dev.to articles rank on google)
  3. test etsy listing (people search for data products there)
  4. wait for gmail to restore and blast the 1,190 email pipeline
