43 visits but no sales: How can I improve my landing page?

Zapier and Canva are getting a lot of search traffic by creating very specific, targeted landing pages. I'm working on building Launchman so Indie Devs can do this too.

So far though, I haven't gotten any sales from the landing page. Does the copy sense? What can I improve on?

    Cool product.

    A few pieces of feedback

    1. you can do this with webflow, you don't have to create every page from scratch
    2. I wouldn't use your product because I already have a website and it sounds like this is a new provider like wix or squarespace
    3. programmatic SEO is harder than most people realize, especially since you need a lot of data. implementing a programmatic strategy is not a light lift.
    4. I missed the pricing the first time I looked at the page
    5. 43 visits is nothing, you can't draw any quantitative conclusions
    6. I'd definitely would need to change the page designs

I'd buy a subscription if you build this for wordpress. No interest in spinning up landing pages with your domain. I would need this on my own domain.

As a buyer I think you're simply too early. It doesn't solve my problem yet. But if you build this for wordpress and I can customize designs, I would pay.

    1. 2

This feedback is on point. I actually completely align with it as a potential buyer myself.

You are in a very, very saturated market sukh, so you need to specialize.

      1. 1

Hey Christopher, I'd love to learn more. Are you around for a 15-min call? I can't find your contact details but here's my twitter.

    2. 1

Hey @StartupSales, this is very useful.

3 - Sounds like you a lot of experience here, would you be able to elaborate on what is needed other than data?
6 - This is something I'm struggling with. My plan was to create templates but sounds like you would need custom designs that match your branding. This is a little less scalable. Perhaps a higher tier plan for this?
7 - Yep you can def bring your own domain.

Regarding Wordpress, I've had a few other folks suggest the same. I haven't worked with it much but are there any plugins you've already tried? What hasn't worked?

      Cheers,
      Sukh

      1. 2

you need the data which is important. just plugging in a new city or whatever easy variable to swap out wont lead you to ranking, especially if it's a newer site. you still need a decent amount of unique content per page.

I think understanding what the customer wants is key unless there's a use case I'm missing but I don't see why an established company or even an early stage startup is going to spin up a bunch of pages because they can with your look and feel. needs to fit their current strategy. seo is a long term investment

I haven't tried anything. I know there's some custom work to make it work. I am considering using webflow to do this but I find wordpress easier to use so i'm looking for a solution.

        1. 1

Yep, that makes sense. As more folks join in, I'll get a better signal on how to scale. Working on a per case basis prob is better for now. As you say - creating custom designs + understanding every company's domain.

Curious to know how Webflow + SEO goes. Good luck!

          1. 1

is there a reason you're not going to build it for wordpress?

            1. 2

I'm working on a programmatic SEO solution that works with any website, including (and especially) Wordpress: https://pagefactory.app

Been working in this space for a little under a year, and I agree, most people are looking for a solution that works with their existing set up. Which is how I came around to building this 😊

I just wrapped up the beta and will be launching in a couple of weeks!

              1. 2

This sounds spot on, @allison! Just signed up for your waitlist! How much will it be?

                1. 2

Awesome! Glad to hear it. Haven't decided on a price yet, but probably in the $30 - $50 range. There will be a 14-day free trial as well so you can "try before you buy". Feel free to dm me on twitter with any thoughts/feedback you have on the idea or requests!

            2. 2

I'd need sufficient pre-orders to pivot to WordPress. Here's the link if you can commit. Happy to jump on a call to discuss more.

  2. 4

Mmmm you can't make decisions with only 43 visits....

  3. 3

Get to 1000 visits any way, 43 are not enough

    1. 1

      That's a good target

  4. 2

Hey Sukh, just a few thoughts for you to consider:

I think with a new tool like this, a visitor will be thinking a few thoughts initially:

    1. Does this work?
    2. How easy is it to use?
    3. Have other people found success with it?
    4. Will this work for me?
    5. How much will it cost?

    I think you've done a great job with #1 and #2.

To help with credibility (for #3):

    1. For a business proposing to help with SEO, it's odd that there's no Title tag for the landing page. To me, that already sets off alarm bells and puts me in cautious mode so I'm reading the rest of the page looking for more red flags

    2. Do you have any testimonials that you can feature? Because it's a new tool on the block, I'm really looking to see if it works and I think some smiling faces and high praises will go a long way to reassure someone that this works.

Highlight how easy it is (for #4):

    1. Once the user is convinced that this method works, another thought they'll have is how hard would it be to integrate with their existing CMS? I think a FAQ near the bottom of the page may not be discoverable enough. Perhaps calling out in a more visual way that it's easy to integrate via Wordpress, Wix etc.. would help ease the doubt.

    Hope that helps!

  5. 2

Programmatic SEO is a pain, but it's SUCH an important growth strategy.

    I'd say

    1. create a stronger Above the Fold - use the Harry Dry method, and for social proof, find a quote from a famous businessperson on the benefits of using programmatic SEO
    2. Create a gif/video to show the process research -> using your tool -> making hundreds of pages at once

Personally, this is something I want to do with Webflow, but without having to have a dev. If you could create a tool (Like Audienceful is doing for newsletters and content) that worked seamlessly for Webflow I'd pay for it in a heartbeat.

You could also showcase the beauty of the sites and the speed as differentiation points to a Wordpress plugin since that's such a selling point of Webflow>WP

For perspective, I'm planning on paying ~$800 for a dev to help me do this with Webflow.

(and yes, technically I could do it myself, but there isn't a completely no code way to do it in Webflow and I can't code at all)

    1. 1

      Hey Sophia!

      • Harry Dry is a great resource. Thank you for pointing it out.
      • I did create a demo video but it focuses on the product idea than the process. I def can create a lot punchier GIF that shows the process in the app.

I've had a lot of requests for Wordpress, first about Webflow. Could we get on a quick call, I'm very interested in learning your use case. DM-ing you on Twitter.

PS. Once again great agency name - "Ignore no more"! :)

      1. 3

        Thank you Sukh! :D
Happy to do a call, I'll keep this going in the DM's.

Full transparency, I am probably going to use @mbusel's tool Whalesync for my programmatic SEO needs, but it's not a 100% plug-in-play option. I also plan on using Airtable to run my co alongside Notion so it's a good fit.

        1. 1

          Oh yeah absolutely.

          I'm guessing Airtable -> Whalesync -> Notion -> Whalesync -> Webflow?

          1. 1

Close! Airtable -> Whalesync -> Webflow

  6. 2

Understand the user intent. Based on this write content with optimization.

  7. 2

    Few things I noticed,

    • There's no title for the page
    • There's no favicon
    • Landing page can be more explanatory with images
    • I don't see the branding for launchman. A text sits above the h1, but that does not have any prominence.
    • Also I visited the videoman demo site for different scenarios. All of them looks similar, I don't know how those examples are different.
    • And at the end, there's a Stripe checkout and I have no idea what I'm buying into.
    1. 1
      1. Completely agree with the branding. A lot of folks pointed that out as the main reason for not being trustworthy
      2. The demos - I want to communicate that all those pages can be created with Launchman. Is there a better way to do that in your opinion?
      3. Not enough info - So the copy isn't communicating the product correctly. I'll work on this a bit more with what @sophia_oneal mentioned.
  8. 2

    As @StartupSales mentioned...

'43 visits is nothing, you can't draw any quantitative conclusions'.

This is it. 'Good' conversion rates for web site sales are between 1-3%.

This is the range you'll see when you google 'good website conversion rate'.

Anything above 6% is legit insanity.

    Keep building, marketing, and sharing.

    Focus on sale #1.

    1. 1

Knowing the avg. conversion rate helps a lot with managing expectations.

      Will do!

  9. 2

I am kind of interested in what the website is offering but don’t really trust it. There’s no banner or obvious branding except for the name of the product in tiny font. Something about it makes it look more like a blog post.

    1. 1

Let me work on some branding and maybe add some trust builders. I skimped out on creating a logo, will get one.

  10. 2

You may have a few occasional purchases once you hit hundreds of visits, but they won't be useful. Once you'll reach out to them, 95% of time they won't respond and you'll have no feedback to work with (gone this route multiple times).

That's why I believe that the fastest way to PMF is going after your customers, getting in conversations to build a relationship and landing the first 20 sales. Once you have 20 happy customers - the 20->100 jump is way faster. Can help you do all that.

  11. 1

Hey, I think the idea sounds decent and all and why people would want it could make sense.

But one thing for me is that when I visit the website on ios 15 iPhone 7 Safari, there are no images or videos or any assets that load. Just plain text. And that’s a turn off for me.

  12. 1

    Hey,

If you are looking for sales on your https://pubgmodsworld.com/ landing page then you should work on your offer selection.

    1. 1

Hey Robert, I'm not sure what this is regarding.

  13. 1

tried to sign up but nothing happens when clicking on "i want it"...

  14. 1

I would spend a little more time in the header on the problem statement. Unless you are bringing very qualified traffic, I am not sure a casual visitor would understand what you are trying to solve easily (without watching the video). Perhaps a little more for people who won't immediately play the video could help

  15. 1

Nice concept! Are these pages exportable after creating?

    1. 1

Export to HTML? Not something I've thought about before. What would be the use case?

      1. 1
        1. I mean export the landing pages so that website owner can host it in their subdirectory or folder (example.com/page-name)

        2. Pointing DNS or CName to random site is complex and sometime can break the main app at homepage. So I would not expect people to use launchman by directly pointing toward Launchman.
Instead people will prefer to create bulk pages using your tool and then export it to host on their server.

  16. 1

Something I immediately wanted to see was more examples images to understand the design ability if they look good. Needs a sample gallery

  17. 1

    Just opinions, take with salt:

I think the layout needs work. Move "Launchman" small logo to the top left. Reduce the video width on fullscreen (but make 100% width on mobile).

Headline needs rethinking, it sounds too generic, and easy to make up, and needs something sizzle-y to get my interest. Not sure what that is though! I may not be your target audience though.

What is their pain? Have they heard of "programmatic SEO" and you need to sell why you are the best, or are you educating them about this for the first time.

Replace the fictional case study with a real one. With testimonials, a photo of the person who used it. Include results. For example 100 visitors a day to 1000 visitors in 3 months. More testimonials are better. You might need to get your first clients by offering a free full version to people you know, then you have your testimonials.

  18. 1

Its all about targeted audiences. Many times organic traffic is not that.

  19. 1

It's neat, as someone who has been working in SEO for a long time and is building an SEO coaching/SaaS company I can see the benefits but.... I already have a CMS and it's a damn good one and I wouldn't switch off my CMS just for one niche feature like this and I wouldn't recommend any of my clients do it either (just being super honest).

This is a big solution for a very specific problem.

There aren't many folks doing much of anything with programmatic SEO, but with this approach, you're trying to compete with a CMS market that gets more and more oversaturated as time goes on.

I feel like a wordpress plugin, or an no-code template on Airtable/Notion/Google Sheets would be a much more useful tool, bonus points if you have guides or some way to integrate it into an existing CMS.

  20. 1

Change the header and link it to an emotional benefit. The 10x is general and I wouldn't say it unless you can immediately back it up.

  21. 1

    Hi Sukh,

    Some points I noticed:

    • Lack of clarity in your proposal.: It was not clear to me what you are offering and even with the example proposed on the website when clicking on the links it did not clarify what your tool really offers.
    • We couldn't find a remarketing pixel on your page.
    • As mentioned by our colleagues I also feel that your page design is missing something. It would be interesting to invest a little more time to improve because the user experience counts a lot when visiting a landing page.
  22. 1

Like others have mentioned not generating a sale from 43 visits is no reason to sound the alarm yet, but to answer your question:

    1. Try using more space in your design. Making it very information dense might make it harder for visitors to focus on just one thing. Try having one piece of vital information per screen scroll

    2. Lean more into the case study and try to move it up the page. Having a real world example is very valuable for potential customers.

    3. The design feels a bit "empty" and text heavy. I like the blue/black/white combo but try to use your primary color more and maybe add some icons to draw attention to areas you want visitors to focus on.

    4. The video doesn't have a default image so now I just see a blurry Mac screen with a play button over it. Having a video is a good idea but maybe embed it in the site or set a default image in YouTube so that it fits better in the design.

Maybe the best tip I can give you is to check out landing pages of SaaS products that are doing well. Try to find inspiration out there, I like to look at: siteinspire.com

    Hope this helps, interesting product!

  23. 1

    100% change copy to this:

    10X Your Sales Copy
Create landing pages in bulk, easily.
[take out the price button and input an email opt-in] (Also increase the size of the button)

    Take out this phrase completely:
"Zapier have used this SEO technique to generate $140M ARR" The small size looks at first glance like your trying to slip some terms and conditions stuff by the user.

Increase padding so that much less of the video shows above the fold.

DM my twitter if you want more, but great work so far!

    1. 1

Very descriptive and actionable! I'll implement this and DM you on Twitter.

With an email opt-in, would I be just collecting interest and then getting on calls?

      1. 1

Hey Sukh, as you begin yes. Then, try and find something that your audience would really like, and give it to them for free, in exchange for their email.

Also, 43 visits is significant. 43 people can significantly impact your business. It's certainly not nothing, as I'm reading others say.

        Keep it up!

I agree with 43 visits and no purchases is fine. The typical conversion rate is like 1-10%? So don't worry about the number. But do set the correct expectation for yourself.

      1. 1

Yeah I might be being hasty :/

    2. 1

You mentioned about hero and sub-hero, here's a stab at it:

"Create landing pages that actually get search traffic"
"Launchman is a no-code tool that lets you create highly targeted landing pages at scale so your product actually shows up in Google search results."
