Anyone who follows me using ConvertKit?

Anyone who follows me using ConvertKit?

I just switched over my newsletter from Mailchimp and open rates plummeted from >50% to 7%... (everything else the same)

Assuming deliverability is the problem... anyone know if there's a solution without switching back?

We switched to CK in January and our rates went up.

IMO that kind of drop sounds like either a misconfiguration, or possibly even a bug in their reporting. I would tag Nathan Barry on Twitter to get this escalated to their deliverability team.

Thanks Alex (also for the other helpful comments last week which I somehow didn't see until now).

I'll reach out to Nathan like you suggested.

Hey, Weirdly enough early today I was in my spam folder and had all ur emails in there

Email deliverability is a problem across the board esp when doing broadcasts (we batch them to avoid this). I would try to minimize the links in the email and pics) ConvertKit has horrible metrics. Lots of Marketers mass email out of it. Mailchimp has internal blockers before hitting Gmail and major providers. A suggestion is batch and change up content / subject (aka A/B test)

      Thanks!

Someone recommended I try setting up a verified domain to send emails. Have you tried that?

I just did this and my open rates dropped to 1/4 of what they were beforehand. Telling CK to revert.

Damn, good to know. Thanks for the heads up!

I wonder if it's something about spam detection. Have you checked a dummy email address to see if there's a difference?

Was it this email "Learning to close 7-figure deals 💰 as a technical founder...
"? Could your audience base be not at the stage to be worth 7 figures or ready to sell? ... Reading the email now, it is about closing sales deals with enterprise customers.

      Nope!

      The subject line was:

👀 Exciting news inside... and how to make more sales, instantly, with better follow-ups...

I received it on Monday HK time which was Sunday US time. I might have been busy watching Game of Thrones’ Battle of Winterfell with ‘everyone’ else. Also the first weekend of Avengers: Endgame.

cc @csallen I know IH uses ConvertKit. Have you seen the same problem?

It appears to only be for 'broadcasts', as I have ~70% open rates on sequences...

Nope, when I switched from MailChimp to CK it improved my open rates. And we send way more broadcasts than sequences. 100% of our newsletter emails are broadcasts.

Seems like there's hope yet then.

        Thanks for the reply!
