Has anyone tried cold contacting via twitter?

Just today I reached out to the founder of a company who may be a potential partner via Twitter DM. I'd never messaged this person before and they likely did not know who I was.

I got a reply quite quickly asking me to contact someone via their official email channel and a couple of hours later I now have a call scheduled for Thursday with the business development person plus 2 of their developers!

So my advice is this: reach out and don't hold back. Be friendly but to the point. What is there to lose?

It's very effective, but be sure to DM via your personal account & use the platform for intros, not cold pitching.

Do you mean in the sense that people are talking about experiencing the problem your product solves?

I'd say go for it, but be careful. We (Geocodio) regularly scan Twitter to see if people are complaining about their geocoding/data appends process/competitors/etc and try to be friendly and jump in. Some people find it weird, others don't. Be conversational, honest, and casual. Don't be pushy or salesy.

We used to like any tweets that mentioned geocoding at all, but some people said we were "like spamming" so we decided to stop that and only engage (like, reply) when it specifically relates to them looking for a new solution or a frustration that we solve.
