Starting first business struggle

Over time my interest in starting my own business increases. I have experience in different areas, mainly programming and marketing. I want to use my experiences to get inside business world and start my own thing.

On Twitter I have been following @levelsio for some time now, he is founder of few and websites and he also made the 12 startups in 12 months back in 2014. After checking his profile I found that he also wrote Make where he talks about his process of starting new business and detailing how this process goes on.

I loved reading his book but execution is what matters here.

One of ideas he suggested is building in public. So I am doing this here and I am actually sharing this start of this process and will be sharing updates of this.

After reading I went on looking for ideas to execute. I discussed with friends, looked for problems to solve and I came up with some.

The ideas and problems I found so far are interesting, however not easy to execute, here is what I am working on:

• During a discussion with a friend he told me he noticed the women working with him are daily hustling to find someone to do small tasks for them, especially, babysitting and home cleaning. In USA there is Taskrabbit for this kind of tasks but in my area there is no application to cover this.
• I noticed many brands building their brand on Instagram to sell their well-made handmade products. In Europe and USA I think Etsy would be a good place for them to sell these products. However, here no Etsy.
• A friend of mine is teaching Arabic. He wants to build a blog for himself to make extra money. There are many Arabic dialects. And there are many Arabic teachers for these dialects, I think Arabic is one of most spoken languages, a platform like Verbling for Arabic is a good idea.

I have came with more ideas but these ones are most interesting among them.

All of them are challenging to make. I think the most challenging one to make is the Taskrabbit like, then the Arabic teachers platform. Creating store with handmade products I suppose is easy with platforms like woocommerce and Shopify. But marketing is challenging here.

I chose to start with the store idea and take the rest of February building it (two weeks). It is the least challenging in the building phase, then I will start executing new idea next month.
