Getting traction + engagement from more than emails

I saw @itsJeremiahS join and post about his TechMemo project (https://thetechmemo.com/).

I don't know about others, but I'm so sick of email form pop ups. It's driving me nuts. I like the approach of this - asking for email, messenger, instagram, etc. It really gives people the choice on how to engage (and is relevant to the product).

I wonder if Jeremiah could share any info on how it is working? What are people choosing the most? Any interesting insights?

    Thanks for the question @rosiesherry!

I feel multichannel is great for users and great for the product too: more choice = more freedom = better user experience.

I'm continuously testing channels, for instance, I started by offering a YouTube version but based on (lack of!) engagement it wasn't a good fit for the format so I dropped it and started taking suggestions from users with that 'Something else?' button ☝️the #1 request there is currently Telegram which is the next channel I'll launch.

Some insights @ public launch + 1 month, button clicks were:

    1. 55% Email (email is still 👑apparently)
    2. 20% Instagram
    3. 16% Messenger
    4. 9% Suggest new channel

I think it's also important to keep in mind that some channels are more valuable than others from a product point of view.

For instance, our open rate for the email version of The Tech Memo is 45-50% while it's more than 80% on Messenger so you could say that a Messenger subscriber is worth ~1.65 times an email subscriber in terms of impression potential — does that make sense? 🤓
