We have all been there.
Create an ugly little product.
Someone signs up. Who knows why!
-- After a long while --
A few more people sign up.
Ok, this is getting interesting...
People start talking about your product... Oooh nice! Getting there...
-- Goes on for a while - and then... --
PAUSE
A long pause...
Nothing's happening anymore. No one's signing up anymore... Is that it? Was that the lifetime of my product?
Great! Can I move to another idea now?
Hmmm...
WAIT!
Make sure you have checked off these things 👇
You don't want customers at the early stage. You want believers. You want the pals. The crew.
Because at the end of the day. Customers who just use your product aren't here for the long run.
You want the baddest of baddies. Ones who are ready to take a leap of faith alongside you.
What do they expect? From the product. From you.
Are they getting what they expect? How long is it taking? How's the quality? How's the support? How's the communication?
You gotta build what they want. Fulfill their desire as if they are your boss. And if you don't they'll fire you.
On the flip-side. If they expect too much. And you just can't deliver anything. Fire them.
Find people with slightly lower expectations. Go from there. We'll come back to them once we can overdeliver to them.
I recommend making a square button with default CSS and making that your desktop background image. To remind yourself - 0% of your customers asked for rounded corners.
Of course this is not just about buttons. This is about everything that looks bad.
Remember - If it's functional - they'll use it.
You built an ugly app - fine. But you gotta put it out there. Let the world see the ugliness. Let them laugh at it.
Your goal should be to maximize the audience for your comedy show.
How? Marketing. Has to be done. Teach people about stuff in your niche. For free.
Share your stuff with the public. Share what you are working on. Share what's failing.
Now that you have given those early adopters a heavy discount of 80% on the $5 plan. You must be in bad debt.
To pay it off. You want to ask the existing ones to write you a little something-something. That you can show off to the new potential ones.
Testimonials. That's what I'm talking about.
Once you got those. Tripe your prices. And give a discount of 18% on all plans. And 33% for the annual ones.
That's it. Now decide whether the product is dead. Or maybe there are some things you forgot to do.
Like... Selling it!!!
Doesn't work out? Fine. Move on. Onto the next one.
Cheers 🍻
