5 reasons why your startup should have a blog

Want to grow your website traffic consistently, attract new customers, build loyalty with current customers, and become a brand leader in your space?

Continue to read along and I’ll unlock the full potential of blogging in this article.

1. It helps drive traffic to your website

Raise your hand if you want more website visitors. Yeah, me too!

So, how can you attract new traffic or readers to your site? You can through blogging and optimizing your site for search engines.

Here’s how it works:

  • Every time you create and publish a blog post, it's one more indexed page on your website, which means one more opportunity for you to show up on the search engine results page (SERP) and drive traffic to your website in organic search.

  • It's also one more cue to Google and other search engines that your website is active, and they should be checking in frequently to see what new content to surface.

2. Attract new customers

How do you do research online before buying a product or service?

You probably use Google or other search engines to research just about every purchase or buying decision, whether big or small.

An educational blog allows your potential customers to research a solution on their own time and contact you when they’re ready to purchase.

Here are a few examples:

  • An apparel company can post weekly or monthly style predictions and outfit tips per season.
  • A pest control company can provide information about local pests and DIY solutions for battling these pests while keeping safe from chemicals in mind.

3. Tell What Your Business Can Do

It’s essential to have an easy way to show potential clients what kinds of results they can expect.

A blog can achieve just that, and then some.

With a blog and a few attractive photos of your work, you can easily create an impressive portfolio and drive your customers there.

4. Build credibility in your industry

People trust the written word, and blogs improve the level of trust towards your organization or venture. Make sure you provide helpful and accurate content, encourage discussions and knowledge sharing, and see increased confidence in your brand!

Nothing can beat a good solid reputation, and blogging makes an essential investment in this process because it allows you to share your perspective with your audience in a new way.

You start to become a true thought leader in your space, and people will come back to your website to get this industry-leading information.

5. Repurpose blog content for social media

Blogging for your business also helps you get discovered via social media. Every time you create a new article, you're creating content that people can share on social networks — Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Pinterest — which helps expose your business to a new audience that may not know you yet.

Blog content also helps keep your social media presence going.

Instead of asking your social media manager always to create brand new content for social media (or create that content yourself), your blog can serve as that repository of content.

    1. 1

      Indeed Angus :)

Agreed and it helps to generate organic traffic for the long term. We already added the blog for our product https://www.bolddesk.com/blogs. The article that we published a few months back now getting impressions and slowly improving the clicks.

  7. 1

I absolutely agree. Our blog over at https://datingkit.io has generated a ton of traffic without us having to do much marketing. We use both Analytics and Search Console to see which topics are getting the most hits and plan our next posts accordingly.

Very well written. Content is still king but finding time to generate good content is quite the challenge.

Has anyone successfully launched a successful product blog via ghost writers?

    1. 1

Yep, couldn't agree more on this!

We exactly solve this problem at Growthingly ;)

Now the problem is finding the time between features and creating content, and documentation 😭.

I guess a better question to ask is, what should I do if I'm in an incredibly competitive market (budgeting)? I've attempted to niche. But the big blogs, like Forbes, nerdwallet, etc, command any slot related to budgeting.

This article has excellent advice and one I follow for my blog. Whenever I see a discussion on this topic, I always harken back to an excellent article on WordPress from years ago. The article is still very relevant today. https://gopostmatic.com/2018/02/current-state-blog-comments/
