We have just reached a huge milestone, we won our first paying customer without any landing page, pitch deck, or product π₯³.
How we did it:
A) We reached out to 80 companies asking for a meeting to better understand how we can help them reinforce company culture.
B) 20 people agreed to meet - during those interviews, we learned more about our target audience and their challenge.
C) We identified 6 warm leads who were really interested in getting some help.
D) Here comes the trick: at this stage, we didn't sell them a solution. We sold them the idea of building one together. In that regard, not having an existing product or landing page actually helped us.
This is what we pitched -> "Let's build a solution together that will work for your specific needs. We will invest as much time as necessary. In exchange, you commit to pay and give us feedback for at least 6 months once we go live."
E) One client has accepted our offer π₯³
Our belief is that if we build something that ONE company really loves, chances are high that other companies will love it too.
So what now? We have 2 months to build a working product π Exciting times ahead, I will keep you posted.
Congrats! The way you did it was very smart. I'm assuming you're a good salesperson/copywriter to be able to get 20 people on a call with you
Thank you @kelvinbohm, much appreciated! I would not consider myself a great salesperson but I'm happy with the results. :)
What helped was reaching out to my indirect network and getting some introductions. When we were just sending cold messages to strangers, the reply rate was very low. We still do that but we invest a lot of research before contacting 1 company to make sure we speak with our target audience and hopefully increase the reply rate.
