Mastermind groups. Have you ever been part of one?

Mastermind groups.
Have you ever been part of one? What are experiences?
If not, do you wish to join one?
Local vs remote mastermind groups?

My background:

Never been part of some kind of mastermind group.
For me work feels much better if there are people around and good energy in general - then it's fun and work is just 1000 times better.
This is literally why I enjoy my 9-5 as a full-stack web-dev.

If anyone is interested in this, maybe we could create a discord server. We could produce high quality products and have fun in between.

I think that the remote group could bring a diversity of culture and life philosophy, which local group can't.

I would like to join some group, with people stronger than myself. I am also a web developer, and I would like to have in-group people with copywriting and marketing skills.

People from different backgrounds can complement eachother.

I totally agree with this. Being someone in marketing, I love the opportunity to speak with and learn from developers. I find that both the marketer and the developer end up getting better because of it. Being able to be able to learn from, and see the progress of www.folyoz.net has allowed me to have a greater insight into the development process and further appreciate the process. I always want to be sharpening my own skills, but I also find it very valuable to learn from people in completely different fields.

      Totally agree.

Have you tried finding people with those specific backgrounds, and how did it go?

I've been a part of founder2be.com last year where you get to ask for people with specific backgrounds if you already have a project idea, or join a team that needs a guy like you.

Since teams depend on ideas there, and are not made for people that may work on different products, they are not created with idea of master-mind groups.

    Hey there,
I've been part of two masterminds so far (both international, several timezones, >4 People)

It was awesome, geting to know other likeminded people. Chatting, Interacting and trading advice and knowledge. However after ~6 - 12 months it begins to shift most of the time since not all are equally excited anymore, daily business, family and life gets in the way and such groups tend to drift apart after some time. which is ok and expected...

So if you want to start one, make sure you are aware of the "lifecycle" and maybe explicitly have an expiry date. Especially if you try to meet weekly. It is exhausting to weekly meet at 11pm during a week or on a saturday night, especially if you dont get that much value after a few sessions.

Maybe hand-pick the participants, have a clear goal for everyone and make sure there are enough people it'll still work if 2 ppl drop off after two weeks.

      Thanks for sharing.

Would be great if you could tell how it all started and how you guys got together.

Both resulted from somebody in an entrepreneurial FB group asking for people interested in a mastermind. If I remember correctly it was the Mixergy Premium group and probably a group from Eban Pagan.

One of the guys took the lead and organized a doodle appointment survey. We then met weekly via Google Hangouts.

I think here in the forum you'll quickly find folks who are interested.

      Hi Chloe!

I've done a little bit of research but wasn't able to find any IH meetup group here in Serbia.

      Sent an application :)
Absolutely willing to help this community grow locally, but would love to hear about remote stuff you guys do.

      Have a nice day!
