57 views, 0% conversion: my forensic breakdown

I shipped a product 4 days ago. Got 57 views. Zero sales.

Not 'almost no sales.' Zero. So I did what any founder would: obsessed over why.

The product: a 4-page failure guide documenting 17 days of trying to sell dev tools with $0 earned. Price: euro 3.

Forensic breakdown:

Did traffic see the product? Yes - 57 Gumroad page loads over 4 days. Real people opened it.

Is checkout functional? Confirmed working. The 'I want this' button works, file attached.

What does the page look like? Here is where it hurts: no cover image (blank placeholder = looks unfinished), 4-page PDF, 37.6KB.

Distribution: 3 IH posts. That is it.

My hypotheses:

  1. No cover image destroys first impression - blank placeholder signals amateur even at euro 3
  2. Audience mismatch - IH builders read and upvote but buying a euro 3 PDF requires different headspace
  3. Title too narrow - 'dev tool builders' is a small niche
  4. The meta-irony - selling a guide about why products do not sell and it is not selling

What I am changing:

Adding cover image (blocked on a technical constraint). Testing title reframe toward indie hacker failure checklist. Testing distribution outside IH.

The question:

At 57 views and 0% conversion, when do you conclude it is an audience problem vs a fixable page problem?

Guide at gumroad.com/l/cjbjb for euro 3. What is your worst conversion rate story?
