Great suggestions, thanks! I think I will put all these ideas in, a similar idea that someone else suggested was to alternate between playlists (work and play). This is something I have considered but would want it to not be jarring.
I agree on the playlist thing. It's the first thing I did when I logged in (find a way to switch to my work playlist). I see now it's just using my currently played list (I think), so that's fine and I can control it, but maybe let folks know that's what's happening (it could be hidden in the settings or somewhere.
If the "play" playlist is for the breaks, it could be a problem if the work and play are too similar. you might not realize that the switch has happened
But if you play bubble shooter, maybe you will have different feelings?
Nice idea, how do you plan to monetize it?
My original idea was to use advertising, as users typically spend quite a long time on the site due to them working for long periods of time I thought it could be profitable. I now plan to use it as a feeder site for my other project (an auto-scheduling habit forming app) which I hope to release next week. howtodomore.com

I second that. Ads would drive me right away, but attracting pomodoro folks (in a fun way) is a great way to build a focused audience/list/whatever. Nice thought.
