What you think about the apps market in 2019 ?

What you think about the apps market in 2019 ? There is still space for new profitable apps ? I have been one of the first italian apps' developer 10 years ago, but now I can't find any good new idea because everything seems to have already been done and app stores seems to be saturated. Stats shows that it still is an huge growing market but I think that it's only for consolidated players in the space. What is your opinion ?

The recent IH podcast has some really interesting insights on how to approach some of this: https://www.indiehackers.com/podcast/079-julian-shapiro-of-bell-curve

There's a ton of space. You can't rely on Apple or its App Store for distribution like you could have in 2009, but you can be sure that thousands if not millions of profitable mobile apps are being built right now. The things that used to be niche are now huge and difficult for you to compete in, but there are always new niches, even in games.

It always feels like everything has been done and you're "too late". Even John Carmack thought that in the late 80s before going on to pioneer 3D games and now VR!

You are right, I'm not saying that everything in the world has been done, I'm just referring in mobile apps. Every decade a new huge market born, we saw this with PC in 80s, internet in 90s, web 2.0 in 2000 and mobile apps in 2010.
I spent the last e years studying and working with artificial intelligence which look to be the next big opportunity, but seems that the best use cases are limited to enterprise and I can't/won't create products for enterprise. I'm thinking about how can I use AI to create new product to engage people or solve a people's problem.

I'm not pessimist, I just try to be realist, but what you say is the truth. Some years I owned one of the most popular social game in Italy which was my first income source. A morning Google woke up deciding that I was 'cheating my users' and removed my app from Google Play. I spent one month before being able to reach them and let them notice the error but all my users base was already burnt. Building a stable business with a mobile app is really hard because you will always depend by Google/Apple, but is also true that for a solo founder like me is much easier than creating a website, where I have to manage everything by myself.
