National ID and tax numbers for every EU member state. Personal numbers, company and VAT numbers, 27 countries, every one with a correct country-specific checksum.
There is no single algorithm. It's Luhn, mod-11, ISO 7064, Verhoeff, mod-97 — same job, different maths, chosen independently by 27 countries that never coordinated. Several run two coexisting standards, so Denmark's pre/post-2007 CPR, Ireland's 2013 PPSN and Latvia's 2017 format all had to be selectable rather than assumed.
The biggest single release in the product's history, and the one that turned "a Polish tool" into a European one.
