7 steps to promote on Reddit.

Reddit is the best place to Showcase or Promote your products/blogs/projects etc.

Why ??? See this post : Reasons to start Marketing on Reddit

As discussed in the above post, Reddit Growth can be easily hacked. And these are the steps to do it…

Step 1 : Find Trends

You need to know what people in your niche are talking about.

For this you can simply depend on your intuition to know the trending topics,
OR,
Use the Free Kestrel Tool To Discover Trends.
It will show you the hot posts in all subreddits related to your niche.

Try to post something related to what people are already talking about in your topic. Else it will diminish your chances of success.

Step 2 : Choose a subreddit

You have to choose the most active subreddit in your niche.

A Simple Search will return all subreddits related to your topic.

But, You need to find the most active subreddits related to your topics.

For this you can again use the Kestrel - Discovery Page
This will show the top subreddits with number of active users next to them.
pic2
In the above photo you can see that r/technology has the most number of active members (i.e. 3.5K).

Also, See the Rules of a subreddit before you decide to post in it.

Decide a subreddit you want to post to considering all the above aspects.
See : Kestrel - Discovery

Step 3 : Select post type

After you decide the subreddit, You need to decide on what type of post (Image/Video/Text/Link) you want to create.

You can find the type of posts that people like on the Kestrel - Research Page as shown in the image below.

This image shows that r/memes reappy likes image based post and heavily dislikes text based post.

You should convert your content to the format that the audience on a subreddit likes. Else don’t expect any conversions from your post.

Step 4 : Choose content length

While writing a post, your title length and post length must be optimum. ( Not too Long, Not too Short ).

To find the optimum length for your post see the Average Title Length, Average Post Length in the Subreddit Report Section on Kestrel Research Page.

pic4

Optimum length for a post-title in r/Entrepreneur is around 80 charecters and Optimum length for a text-post in r/Entrepreneur is around 2300 charecters.

Step 5 : Pick a Title [most important step]

Now that you have decided on What to post, and length of the content and title.

Let’s pick a title sentence for your post.

The title is the most important part of your post, 80% people see your title and 20% people see your post.

Your title should have keywords related to what people are talking about in that subreddit.

For that you can again use the Frequent Words Section on Kestrel Research Page.

Above you can see the top keywords for r/Entrepreneur.
See the top keywords and try to analyze what type of titles people like, and what is trending and create a title and post accordingly.

Step 6 : Select a time to post

You are now ready to post your content on a subreddit. But the most important thing at this point is the timing.

Some subreddits are highly active on some specific hours of some specific days.

This is when you can expect highest engagement on your posts,

For this see the Best Time to Post Section on Kestrel Research Page.

The above image shows the best time to post according to your own local time.

As you can see 6pm to 8pm is the hot time where things go trending. You can analyze similarly for any subreddit you want using the Kestrel Research Page, FOR FREE !!!

Step 7 : Engage

Now if you have followed all of the above steps, you would have created an amazing post to reach the front page of Reddit.

But to remain there you need to enagage with the audience (Reddit algorithm likes that).

  • Reply to all of the comments(positive or negative).
  • DM the users who give your any post awards.
  • DM the users who post posivive comments.
  • Constantly ask for feedback from those users.

If you post any thing on reddit, using the above formula just send me a link in the comments. I’ll surely support you.

Also explore more of the Kestrel Tool, it will help you a lot in your marketing journey.

Comment below if you face any issues.

See you on the front page of reddit 👋
