OK - building in public, learning in public. Here we go.
7 things I wish I knew a week ago:
- The language of social media: People tend to spend at max. 8 sec looking at a post in social media networks. Content must be easy to digest (micro-content): pictures, videos
- Give people what they want: Being a software developer, I see mistakes in planning & design all the time. So my thought was - Why not create blogs/micro-content that highlight these issues. The thing is, nobody likes to be pointed at mistakes when scanning through social networks (LinkedIn/Twitter). People are using Twitter and LinkedIn to distract themself. It is like a small break from their busy life. Content has to be distracting from the daily routine. Stirring in problems of the daily routine doesn't work.
- CTA pschology: What makes people click (https://www.ventureharbour.com/cta-psychology/)
- EMV words in headlines: I hope I did choose a headline for this post that engaged you to click. (https://www.aminstitute.com/headline/)
- I have to have a product: To be honest, I'm fooling around at the moment because I don't really have a product to offer.
- "Growth hacking"-guides can be aimed at people of the same tribe only. E.g. a product of an indiehacker aims at other indiehackers. So, I have to take any strategies floating around with a pinch of salt and abstract to be able to adapt onto my situation. Espacially, if my product is not aimed at other indiehackers.
- it is possible in Google Image Search to filter the results by "Creative Commons License"..!
"People are using Twitter and LinkedIn to distract themselves" - thanks for this. It'll save me lot of time.
