A recent study made by DDI, a strategic leadership consultancy firm showed that after 5 years in the role, only 29% of CEOs rate their leadership team as effective.
The study also shows new CEOs (> 1 year in the role) rate 41% of their leadership team as effective.
My conclusion is that the issue is with our CEOs. If 71% of them believe that their immediate team is ineffective, do something about it! If one of the main responsibilities of the CEO is to ensure that the management is strong and effective, why the hell maintaining the team in a structure that doesn't satisfy the CEO? Hard to understand...
