What audiobook(s) would you recommend for someone wanting to learn the modern day basics around digital marketing? I currently have my eye on 'This Is Marketing' by Seth Godin, please correct me if this is too far ahead of myself.
#marketing
I would start with "purple cow" and "ideavirus" of seth godin. Definetely a better reading than "this is marketing"
Perfect, thanks!
I often get good insights from the 'Marketing School' podcast by Neil Patel / Eric Siu (sp?)
other than that I listen more to founder stories on how they went about doing their marketing in the early days. I've found that to be quite helpful and immediately actionable
hope this helps, I'm def interested in seeing what the tribe recommends!
Thanks for this, yeah I've been reading over the marketing tactics over the past 2 years on IH but I feel like I need more learning/research rather than hoping someone else's success will be the same for me.
I'm also interested in this. Love audio books.
On another note, mind sharing your marketing tips/strategy with us? :)
You can't go wrong with Seth Godin but I try to avoid becoming a professional reader because his books will get you hooked. These are the best in my opinion. They combine high level concepts with real life examples and actionable advice and it's all evergreen information...in addition to being really easy listening.
This is a good answer, I'll definitely check these out before I move on to Seth's material - thanks. :)
An important disclaimer. I want to point out that I only recommended the two books on content marketing because I made the assumption that you don't yet have anything to sell which is why you have the luxury of trying to learn about digital marketing right now.
Here's A quick summary of these two books:
However, if you already have a product or will soon, don't mess with content marketing. In this case, Traction is the better book and I wouldn't even waste time learning about content marketing until later because it will only be a distraction.
The best digital marketing approach today is paid ads period. So it might even make the most sense, to use your time becoming an expert in Facebook ads, Adwords, etc. I didn't mention this before, because you asked specifically for audiobooks and I was making the assumption that you were not close to having a product to sell. Which in that case, content marketing is the best because it's basically ensures that your product will be successful.
Strongly agree. with 'Marketing School' podcast. Learn by osmosis through what these guys say day in and day out.... Marketing changes so most audio books may be outdated. Plenty of good podcasts that talk about marketing. Just dive in.
Maybe if you want audio books, maybe gabriel weinberg traction book.
Both excellent suggestions, thanks!
I would recommend "Crossing the chasm" by Geoffrey A. Moore, especially if you're interested in B2B. His book was very revealing to me.
I was in your same shoes a few months ago and I'm a big fan of Seth Godin now.
For a more actionable book, like one of the guys mentioned, "Traction" by Gabriel Weinberg is awesome.
Perfect thanks, I'll consider B2B after grabbing the basics. :)
I listened book named "The Conversion Code". As Developer/Technical person, I wanted to get familiar with Marketing strategies and concepts to apply into my own business. I must say, book is easy to read, content organization is upto the mark and book helped me understand many strategies which I could use for my business. checkout reviews to findout if that fulfills you need.
Awesome review ;) I'll check it out, thanks!
+1!
