SEO person here. Actually, you can use the URL with either www or non-www. But the point is, always prefer a single version. If you're preferring non-www version, make sure to permanently redirect www version to it and vice versa. Having your website accessed from both the version creates duplicate content issues in the eyes of Google.

Apart from this, there are no pros, cons and best practices in this case.

www that redirects to a domain without www

Most people don't use www - create a permanent redirect from it, avoid confusion.

It doesn't make a significant difference, but in general www is unnecessary, and an old pattern.

If you've been using it, stick with it, but for a fresh site I would use without.

The principle here is to keep your URLs as short as possible, so www just lengthens it.

Make sure you redirect all combinations of HTTP/HTTPS WWW/non-WWW to your correct destination. I see people get this wrong a lot and it messes up your SEO.

I do non-www because it looks cleaner and I generally dislike arbitrary standards. Of course, I redirect www to non-www.

I started to use only https, because my customers tell me the connection is unsecure and they cannot trust my business.... will be using https and pay for it definitely...

I redirect from www. to the base domain because I don't like wasting those extra 4 keystrokes. It's not like I'm running a gopher. or an ftp. that www. needs to be distinguished from.
