Hi fellow hackers! I have a quick question about this community.

Hi fellow hackers! I have a quick question about this community. I discovered this site a few weeks ago and have found a lot of the discussions invaluable but also notice much of products discussed are aimed at marketing and tech types. Do you feel that IH is a good place to have a conversation about narrow, non tech, focused projects? I am hoping to launch a SaaS product for homebrewers (yes brewing beer at home gets pretty advanced) in the next few months and would like to get more information about marketing to a niche markets.

Besides your thoughts on the community, I would love to see any of your favorite posts about developing applications and marketing to niche non tech customers.

    Hey Noah,

It is true that most of the things here are broadly marketing and tech. Your product is for homebrewers, but if it's a SaaS, then it's a software business, which is the main crowd here.

You'll be able to get discussions and advice about the general business, marketing, sales stuff for sure. As for more industry-specific advice about brewery, that might be a bit harder to find, but you can find that out from user research.

One interesting non-tech product was this: https://www.indiehackers.com/interview/ec343abb3d

    Hi Noah. And welcome!

I would say yes! And the fact that you are even mentioning SaaS is even more of a reason that this community aligns with what you are trying to do. At the end of the day we are about starting and running businesses. And I know I personally would love to see more indie hackers that cross over with hands on products with a hint of tech.

Perhaps you can start separate and specific discussions for what help you need with development (and marketing)? It will then be more likely that you will get a useful response.
