Hello, I'm jakekempo! I'm from the UK, but living near Lausanne in Switzerland having been in Melbourne for around 8 years. My wife got a job here, I was working as a freelance front end developer but I left all my clients in Australia, so I've decided to try building my own products.
I've got 3 kids so I'm going to be focussing on productivity apps for parents, including resurrecting a kids chores rewards app I built years ago, a parent / teacher comms app plus some other ideas I've got on the burner.
Looking forward to being part of Indie Hackers!

Thanks Alison. Your project sounds cool too. What tech are you learning?
So far I am working with SQL to develop the database behind the app. Next I'll be working with HTML and CSS to design the front end and python and javascript to tie it all together.
Definitely a process considering I don't have a coding bone in my body!

Also interested in what your up to @jakekempo. I have just had our first child and I've definitely noticed the dearth of
quality family and child focused apps.
@AKWest also I think your allergy idea is super smart. Our first child hasn't shown allergies yet, but I've been doing some preparation reading and it got me to thinking how big the issue is. Tbh I never thought much about it because allergies are rare and minor in my family, but a cooking show opened my eyes to the fact that it is life or death for many and can really limit you.
Really great to 'meet' you both.
To answer @AKWest's question about what I'm up to... I'm a hockey referee in the evenings for fun and I became interested in doing software apps around that vertical because it doesn't seem to be well supplied with good tools either.
