Hey there, I'm Joel π! I'm a software engineer for Dribbble by day, and founder/developer of https://shubox.io by night. I've been programming professionally for 20 years. The past 8+ years have been mostly ruby-focused but never afraid to jump into any level of the web application stack. These days I'm looking to further grow into the product and marketing space to get a better feel for how to help Shubox grow. Biggest struggles are currently finding what to do next, how to measure effectiveness, and how to stay focused as a single, lone founder and product owner.
Always looking for feedback so never hesitate to hit me up π
#hello-world
Hey Joel! It may sound a cliche - but to me, talking face to face with other founders (even venture-backed ones) reminds me why what I'm building is valuable - it's a relieving and focusing experience to "defend" your venture. Such discussions usually tend to also bring out refreshing perspectives and new ideas.
Yessir @sagi - don't I know it. I get together every few months with other bootstrappers that are in similar situation(s) and we have a great time talking over what we're doing. There are some great things that come out of it but I think, ultimately, we all need some different skillsets (we're all engineers) to make it a more valuable experience. I still love it though.
I do need to get out there a little more though - talk to other people I don't consider "friends" and pitch them on what I'm working on.
Perhaps it might be worth checking to see if there is an IH meetup near you.
I don't know much about what you offer, but the website is nice!
Awesome! Thanks @rosiesherry! I have to give credit where credit is due -- it's all thanks to the duo at ForeDesign (https://foredesign.co/). Dan and Amy are friends of mine but I did retain their services to help me go from where I was, to where I am today.
While you're there, though - if you want to know more about what it does, don't hesitate to ask ;)
