A few days ago, our Show HN post on Hacker News very unexpectedly reached the front page and went viral.
The result was a +20,000% increase in website traffic, hundreds of new users, new customers, new markets, and some great feedback on our product.
All in the span of about 24-48 hours and for $0 in marketing spend.
However, because we did not expect this, we made some BIG mistakes in the process. So I've written up an overview of our experience, 8 lessons we learned along the way on how to launch on Hacker News, and the mistakes we make which you will want to avoid.
Hopefully this helps someone achieve the same boost to traffic and user sign ups we got 🙂
