I might be too old for this, but why can't I add a title to my post when clicking "new post". I can start writing, but I can't see the an input element for title. It only pops out after writing for a couple of sentences.
This really throws me off and discourages me from posting here...

If you want to write longer post click at the hamburger menu and then in contribue. There you can write long articles.
I decided the same thing after testing it for the past month or so. Now the title field is visible by default.

There's a lot of good business advice shared on platforms like Twitter that have no titles an severe length limits. The presence of a required title field on IH posts, however, results in people feeling like they need to make much longer posts, and so they don't end up writing short, simple things.
Making the title field optional was an attempt to remove this burden and signal that it's okay to make short posts. It's kind of worked. But making the title field hidden, however, went too far.
