I kind of feel like a fraud calling this a product. I’m making a simple calculator to estimate costs of backpacking in SE Asia. I just wanted to build something small enough that I couldn’t possibly fail to finish it.
There are loads of resources to find backpacking costs, but usually the information is buried in a blog post. There are calculators too, but most are poorly designed, way out of date, or very inaccurate. I wanted to make something that had accurate, recent data and got straight to the point: “what will I spend if I go backpacking in ____”.
Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I would also add a feature where you can breakdown the costs per city. For example, you click on a city and shows how each element contributes to the total cost.
Looks good! You could add visa costs, transportation costs, and average local medical costs, as well. One suggestion: it's full width on desktop, which means on my iMac, it won't fit on the whole screen. I recommend setting a max-width and centering it :)

It cuts off vertically, at the bottom.
