9+5 is great

Hello there, fellow dad here as well. Kids are age 9 and 5. Side hustling my SaaS, while being full-time employed and being a dad to two kids. Can be stressful.

Questions to fellow parents here: How do you cope with creativity? I feel that sometimes I have a great idea and would like to work on it right away, but can't. Then when all family business has been taken care of (read: kids are sleeping), my creative juice is just gone for the day/night. How do you re-motivate yourself in such situations?

Same problem here. 7 and a 5 year old. So many ideas, some partially started, but once the kids are in bed, I’m drained. Just have to grind a little harder.

Hi! I've got a 6 year old and a 3 year old. It's not easy. I end up trying to solve as many problems in my head as I can during downtime so that when I am at a computer I'm as effective as possible. I write a lot of notes to self too and every week or so I review them and see what I should be working on next. I don't have any silver bullets either. It's just a grind.

I do the same & that's the main purpose why I created coolNote. :-)

There will be a new feature soon, which will allow you to select any of your notes or todos & tag them with a special tag. They will be visible separately in a section, like some kind of 'today todo's' or 'to be done next' feature.

With it, I can think, write & prioritize before I even sit to the computer.

"I write a lot of notes to self too" -> can you elaborate on that? How's your workflow for that? An app, piece of paper, simply remember them?

This book has some thoughts on how to collect and curate your ideas: https://www.audible.com/pd/The-Idea-Hunter-Audiobook/B004XVO3KK
Also James Altucher has written a lot on the topic. 😊

At the moment I have a mix of Bear, Google docs and writing emails to myself from my phone. I like the spirit of GTD, but I don't follow it too formally. I have a note in Bear that is "collecting" but at the moment it's very long and needs pruning. I have a whiteboard in my office too that helps. The only thing I don't do is try to remember it in my head. I always write it down somewhere to keep my brain clear.

Hey David. I'm not a parent, but I've struggled a lot with consistent motivation. I would get excited about an idea for a weekend or two, but wouldn't be able to make enough traction to stay motivated and see things to fruition.

To solve this, I ended up building floom.app so that I can launch products faster. Instead of solving the motivation problem, I made launching easy enough that I could do it in one weekend: https://www.indiehackers.com/article/how-i-built-and-launched-a-product-in-14-hours-e90daa28e7

Feel free to DM me about things you're thinking about working on. I'm always happy to work on collaborations
