Feedback needed: a tool that automates business workflows

Hi there indiehackers,

I'm Alin - a self-taught web developer and I just launched a landing page for my new side project konceptflow: https://konceptflow.com.

konceptflow is a simple workflow tool that automates your business processes and keeps in the loop everybody from your team. I think it would be really helpful especially for remote or distributed teams.

I have a full time job so I expect to deliver an MVP in 3 months. Until then I would really appreciate your feedback about the landing page and the product's usefulness.

Thanks a lot!
Alin R.

I suggest you target this product to marketing people with a marketing use case or several examples. As many SaaS products have engineers, and we build this functionality into our products. Your product is really for the non-technical person.

I work at an agency and have signed up :) I also just wanted to say that if you're having troubles prioritizing features, kanochart.com may be able to help you. I'll hook you up with free credits if you want.

Best of luck with the launch!

I would strongly encourage you to focus on 1-2 key problem spaces and narrow down your positioning. From personal experience, unless you have something that is extremely adaptable and intuitive, you are going to get pulled in many different directions with this pitch (automate your business process and workflow) and find that your solution is sub-optimal for most of them. That is assuming you’re doing human b2b sales. If you’re doing digital marketing, it’s going to be even tougher because it’s not really clear what specific problems it solves, making it tough to resonate with anyone leading to low conversion.

The way you have it positioned right now places the product generally in the category of BPM (business process management), which is undergoing an evolution with RPA (robotic process automation). And from what I can see in the product, it looks like more of a task list than true process automation.

Respectfully, when I look at the landing page I get the impression that whoever made the product does not understand what “business process automation” really means (hint: think Appian etc). I don’t think that’s what you intended. To be clear, I also don’t mean to give you harsh feedback but I’ve learned some tough lessons having had a foot in this space, and found that you really need to have specific domain knowledge and/or extremely flexible tools to actually automate processes (which in many cases involves data transformation, approval processes, and so on).

Perhaps you can focus positioning on the productivity tool or work tracking concept (but it will be tough to differentiate against a crowded market), or you could really drill down into some specific use-cases and use a beachhead approach to find a specific industries or specific subsets of customers having well-defined problems that your product is very effective at solving. If you want some encouragement, the good news is there is no shortage of people within companies that are working inefficiently and looking for solutions to be more effective. Your challenge will be to pick the right problems to solve.

Thanks for taking the time to give me such a valuable feedback! As a target market, I was thinking about the remote and distributed teams who have a tough time to keep everybody in sync. Where do you think I could approach this market?

      1. 1

As you're probably aware, most software teams or creative agencies are distributed these days. Or at least, have remote members. Some e-commerce businesses as well (successful FBA sellers often use outsourced talent).

There are many challengers chasing that market as well, due to the fact that it's full of technical people who can make products for themselves. Try to appreciate the nuance that distributed teams bring to your problem space. It's often about the broader context of people communicating across cultures, time zones, and the efficacy of their organisational structures. Your broader problem of work efficiency exists in both remote and traditional structures, but you have some additional context to consider in the former.

I love the look to the front page but I agree that there is little info on what the product actually accomplishes. Where did you get these icons?

Thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it! The icons are from flaticon and illustrations from undraw.

    Hey Alin!

I really like the design. I am not fully sure I understand what konceptflow does. I think the copy you have:

Make processes available to the whole team. Automate decisions and get rid of the endless email threads and paperwork

Perhaps that is better copy to lead with

Thanks for your feedback, I will change the lead copy. Let me try to explain what konceptflow does.

Let's say you are part of a remote or distributed team and you have to onboard a new employee. Onboarding an employee can be reduced to a series of tasks that are repeated every time someone new comes to your team. These series of tasks can be seen as a workflow that you create once and then re-use it again and again. Once you complete a task from the workflow, the colleague who is in charge of the next task will be notified about your completion, so she can start her task and everybody is in sync with the status of the whole workflow and the tasks of which it is composed.

How clear was that? How can I explain better and more concise?
