I would love some feedback on my landing page at https://nottoobadsoftware.com/textpicker/ . What I'm most interested in knowing is:

Do you understand what the application does after reading the page?

Do you see its value?

If you thought you needed this application, would you have clicked "Subscribe"?

And most importantly: can the landing page be made to look nice and professional with some simple changes, or should I hire designers to redesign it?

Update 23/2: I’ve hired the designers who designed the app to redesign the landing page. I’ll be back for more feedback once it is done.
Hi Kare, this is an interesting product! Here are some comments and suggestions.
The good:
You have the basics covered on this page! It clearly explains what the application does, including screenshots, which is something that is often excluded. Your CTA stands out well. You've explained how the product solves the problem better than the alternatives.
The bad:
Your design could use an overhaul to look more professional (sorry to be blunt, but it seems like you've realized this). Hiring a designer might not be the cheapest way to go, but it will allow you to put your best foot forward and increase leads. If you don't have the budget to do this, you might want to try a landing page builder (like SquareSpace or even Mailchimp) where you can use a design template that's already been created.
Some other suggestions:
Your example of how the application works is great, but what's missing is the "why" and "for who". Could you add a few examples of the types of roles who would need to extract text like this? Who is your perfect customer and what are they trying to do? Even one really specific example would help make this more compelling.
For your CTA, "subscribe" sounds like I'm committing to something. What I'd want to sign up for is "Get an email when this product becomes available" or something similar to that.
I don't really understand why the last section is titled "The Future"? This seems more like a set of features.

I very much agree with @sarahbeener. Just one other quick point. When I first arrived on the site I tried to select text in the example you show at the top. I thought it was a demo it was only on the third attempt I realized that they were static images.
Do you think that was because of the example text in the images telling you to select text?
I think that may have been what made try the 2nd and 3rd time but the first time I don't think I had read that. It just looked like something that you should be able to interact with.
Good points. I would also like to add that this would be better suited as a browser extension than a desktop application.
But it doesn't handle webpages, just plain text.
But I have been thinking about adding that feature in the future.

This should be a browser extension with option to save notes to google keep or evernote, with a link.
Use case:
After a quick search: already done, example: https://getliner.com/ BUT as downside, require a login. What I have in mind is something without login, etc..
What you're describing there is a completely different application and use case. I'm making an application for text processing and automation of plain text. But it seems I'm not making that clear in the landing page. I will have to work on that, thanks for pointing it out.

Regarding the design, I agree with the previous comments. A simple trick maybe: using a max-width CSS rule so it's more readable on large displays.
Do you mean so the text in the images is more readable?
Sorry, I wasn't clear. I would add this to your css:

margin: auto;
}
It wouldnt change much, but be cleaner on large displays.

The page itself isn't attractive but I wouldn't use the service of a designer for that.
Just use the free or paid version of https://unicornplatform.com/app/ for example to have a clean landing page.
Eventually put a video of your app running, this will help to show the magic happening.
