The biggest issue people often face when creating a successful indie project isn't building it, but marketing it.

To solve this for myself, I created an evergreen collection of the 500+ top marketing articles I've come across, along w/ actionable notes on each one. Thought this community might find it useful: https://find.xyz/map/marketing-search-engine

The problem is people don't do marketing not because they don't know what to do but because it often is out of their interest. They also are afraid to do some activities like cold emails and calls, talking to users etc.
But anyway, thanks, it still is very valuable.

I mean you're not really supposed to market your product until people like it and are getting value from it, and most people never get to that point. If you send out 1,000 cold emails and get zero users, is there really any point to sending out another 100,000?

Uh-oh. How are people supposed to like it if they don't know about it?

I mean you need people about it, but if the percentage of people who actually engage with the product isn't enough to make a viable business then you want to go back to improving the product (or starting over) rather than trying to sell something that very few people or no one wants.

            Ok, got it finally.
Well, I would agree and disagree because it always depends. Sometimes the product is a problem, sometimes the marketing is. It's hard to say. Maybe you just chose the wrong channel? Or maybe the channel is right but you really need to work hard with it (like with very expensive corporate products). Or maybe the price is too high, or maybe your signup forms just not working.

This is so true. Also kinda true that introverted makers like me sometimes don't feel comfortable self-promote... There should be a marketing exchange where we market each other's products. 😂

Totally agree. Thanks for sharing the list.

So if makers don't know or don't have interest or are not comfortable marketing (including talking to users) would anyone pay for a-turn-key-service to do that?
