Wouldn't say a single contact but a series of interactions through life put me on the track I'm on now.I believe everything happens for a reason. It's just up to you to act on the events put in front of you
Reading the right book at the right moment.
I realized what was wrong in my life and quitted my 9-5 job and moved abroad.

Anyone who has gotten (happily) married would say yes. Same deal with anyone who found a good business partner. Those are all individuals who you happened to click with. Same deal with anyone with a child, or anyone with a (well-loved) pet. Also anyone who has ever gotten a first B2B customer, since that first individual is always taking a bit bet on you and is a bit unusual. It's probably not too far off to say that all the good changes in life come from an individual, and you get in contact with the right individual by doing the right things for long enough that you get a bit lucky.

Yes - I've been lucky enough to have 2 fantastic bosses in the last 10 years (7 years and 3 years respectively) - both of which have imparted a wealth of knowledge and guiding advice. I actively nurture these relationships as they have both been people I respect and look up to.
Awesome, it really does just take a couple of relationships to alter your career. What about a single action you've taken that has had a huge impact?
Not so much an action, but rather a train of thought - that good software development is really a balancing act between programming and business processes / goals.
Make a mantra around that and you'll make successful products!
Yes, but only because I'm actively looking for it and go out of my way to make it happen. Pretty much all the order of magnitude jumps concerning something in my life can be traced back to one single action, most of the time this is meeting someone.
