A BuildInPublic Twitter Tool
Hey everyone, would really love your feedback on a new project that I launched that combines journaling with building in public. You can try it out for free while in beta at https://www.usethreadr.com.
The concept is simple, a journal for your BuildInPublic project that allows you to publish entries as Twitter threads. What makes this app different from other apps such as Typefully is that I provide a specific format for updates and then allow you to save them so you can review them over time. The format is: maker, manager, success, struggles, numbers, and needs. Each section allows room for 1 Tweet which are linked into a thread. There is also a space for private notes. The format is primary drawn from listening to startup podcasts with the idea that is follows an “investor update” - a useful thought process even if you never plan to take investment. There’s no limit of the number of updates you can do, but I think the “investor update” style lends it to monthly. The plan is to create a daily update version, too, but I’m undecided on the best format so wanted to get feedback first.

Looks nice and clean, perhaps a bit small on the actual screen. Direct link to real thread would be great!
I'm struggling to understand how this differs from other scheduling platforms? Couldn't I just any thread scheduling platform, maybe even one that integrates other platforms too?
Hey @tim103 thanks for the feedback. I think what I am trying to offer is the ability for people to separate out their updates from all their other thread and posts, like a journal, so that you can more easily focus on these updates and review them in the future. I would like to think that writing instruction for the first is nice.
I definitely recognize that it wouldn’t be too hard for someone to do this with, say, notion, but would think for those with last time on their hands that’s less technically inclined yes read provide same functionality faster.
Also perhaps using a separate platform, especially one that will provide reminders to complete the task, might help folks stick to a regular posting schedule?
From my experience, users will want more platforms. I don't want to have to use 2 platforms to seperate my journal posts.

Hey @tim103 your 2c is valid! Which platform(s) do you think would be best to try to integrate with? Does the idea of a “structured” journal sit well with you/make sense?
To be honest, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me - but maybe I'm just not understanding it correctly. To me it seems a bit confusing.
I would assume any other platform that the users would use. Maybe LinkedIn, and Facebook?
Ok, that does make sense to me now, let folks post to multiple platforms since they may (probably) have professional profiles multiple places. I was a little slow on the uptake. I can see that being useful and as you put it, Facebook and LinkedIn are probably the two worth implementing. I’m torn between that as a feature or designing “daily updates” next, but right now I still just need a few very first users for that input.
cool idea michael. landing feels a little pushy. the sign in stuff above fold feels really intimidating. and scrolling down, i'm looking for examples but only get thick text promises of what launch might be. can you build a fake example and show us screenshots?
@mcandler hey thank you so much for this! Completely agree re the screenshot, I have one just haven't had a chance to update the page with it yet. Interesting thoughts re the form location, maybe i can put the screenshot where the registration form is and then do the form below the fold.
easy a/b test here for sure. yes, that screen shot of thread would be cool.
