A community platform that allows creating custom badges?
I am looking for a community platform (or platform + plugin) that allows me to create custom badges for the community members. The community is discussion-oriented. Anything similar to Slack/Discord/Telegram will work.
Ideally, there should be some API (Zapier) that allows for automation.
Does it exist?
I believe Discourse has this.
Really? I would love to verify that. All I found are general Discord badges, but nothing about custom badges.
Not enough sleep, I see that you also talk about Discourse (not Discord). It seems like the feature I am looking for. Maybe a forum would work for my community even more than a chat. Thanks, I'll look into it.
Why do you have to move from telegraph? Discord doesn't have badges per se but it does have roles which have a special color to the user associated. a lot of communities use that to distinguish freed and paid users etc the rose are more powerful than just badges because it allows you to control who can access which channels read write permissions and lots of other features.
In terms of official badges you could give away custom emoji in discord, and one technique I've seen people do sometimes is use a 2x2 grid to make effectively a larger custom emoji and then you can have a bot respond with that for certain events.

discourse let's you do this. badges is baked right in. it's a forum tho.

Badges are critical for those who want to gamify the community.
What is the segment of your community?
I'm asking because my team is working to release a white-label product for communities focused on gamification aspects, like badges, leaderboards, etc. But for now, our focus is on the gaming market.
Right now, we're on Telegram. Some users have a paid plan on my platform. It would be great if they can get a badge automatically by buying a plan. Also, there are users helping with translations. I would like to create a badge "Translator" for them, etc.
It's not for gamers, but for cryptocurrency investors. Mostly people asking questions about the platform, sharing ideas, etc. Here you can see the current community if you want. It's growing 20+ people a day.
I will most likely have to move from Telegram, so I'm looking for a platform that fits. Discord was my main choice so far.
Right. I think I understand your demands; I think we will take a short time to have these kinds of features as we release our first version next week. But we can keep in touch, and I let you know when we have the structure needed to support your needs ;)
