I think both the landing page and email are good! Looking forward to Monday!

What I wonder is how would you make the previous newsletters accessible? I mean, imagine someone joins in 2 weeks, would that person miss the information shared earlier?

    1. 1

      Thanks for the feedback Aquiles!

I'm going to offer a newsletter archive as well, so all the previous issues should be accessible too. I need to figure out how to do this! 😁

Some people opt for convertkit but, in my opinion, it is too expensive. I believe substack may transform your e-mails into pages. The other option is just to create an entry on your blog after you submit every newsletter, it's also a good strategy for content marketing without increasing the effort

          Thanks.

The blog approach seems ideal to me for marketing reasons. I don't have a blog yet on the website but I'm gonna set that up.

    +1 to this!

Awesome! Just signed up. I'm terrible at promoting my courses even though I have a uDemy best seller. I need to do more.

    1. 1

Thanks for subscribing, Greg! I just checked out your website, and I love the clean design!

I see that you're also selling your Udemy courses directly via your own website. Have you recently started doing that? and is that what you hope to promote better?

P.S. Seeing that you're also based in London, I'd love to meet for a coffee. If only we weren't living through a pandemic right now! πŸ˜’

I've been doing it for awhile but also a full time no code developer so struggle to find time to promote them. If I could get uDemy students to my personal page that would be huge. I only make a few dollars per sale on uDemy - they take the rest. My courses are defo worth more then a few dollars!

Absolutely, that's the number 1 frustration with Udemy!

Something a lot of instructors do is to share their own blog posts as extra resources for learning, sending students to their own website. Once there, they include subscription forms to capture students' email address and send future articles straight to their inbox.

Another way I've seen it done is through building a community, usually on Slack or Discord.

It's all about building your own audience. Once you have that, Udemy becomes redundant.

          1. 1

The tricky part is telling students about the website. Udemy tends to block external links. I've been flagged about it. Unless I'm missing an obvious trick?

My idea was to funnel the Udemy students with the main course to my website and then offer bolt on courses there. Students pay the same price but I get the profit.

            1. 1

When you got flagged, what were you pointing students to?

Udemy doesn't want you to point them straight to your homepage, for obvious reasons. But, they won't stop you from sharing additional learning resources that you have published on your website, as long as they're free to access.

Specifically, you can't ask students for personal details such as an email address before they can access the content. You may offer a subscription form in a sidebar or the footer of the website though. As far as I know, that's not a problem.

Here's an example of someone who shares his articles through the Announcements feature on Udemy: https://zerotomastery.io/blog/web-developer-monthly-may-2020/

                Just my bare domain. buildstartup.co

This is very interesting, I'm going to try it.

Thanks for subscribing Christian, and… ouch! 😬

I'll see if there's anything I can do about that. But please add the email to your contact list if you can (I generally don't do this myself! πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ)

    Hey,
Thats a great idea. I checked the welcome email & landing page. They look great. Let me know if you need help. I launched a course just a month back.

    1. 1

      Thanks @Sj20

How's the course going? Anything in particular you're struggling with or would like to learn more about?

      1. 1

Created a Webinar course & its a 1 time purchase. Got 10 customers & now figuring out the marketing, distribution & feedback.

        1. 1

I think marketing is one thing that most new course creators struggle with, and will be a recurring theme in the newsletter!

          1. 1

For sure. Building an audience is actually more important than building a product

Love your concept! My thoughts on your landing page are 1. Your target audience is male but the heart letter is throwing me off 2. You should have an about for people to get to know you. Also, check our our new program firewards.com - we help email newsletter like you grow so you can easily reward your subscribers for inviting their friends. Feel free to give me feedback as well :D

    1. 2

      Hi Celi,

Thanks for the feedback. What makes you say my target audience is male though? πŸ€”

    2. 1

also, just signed up :) looking forward to your newsletters
