A Dev's No-Risk Approach to being an Indie Hacker

Hi everyone,
I'm mostly a lurker here, but I wanted to share my experience starting off my journey as an indie hacker as I think it could help those that are anxious about starting.

When I first discovered IndieHackers and entertained the idea of starting my own business, I suffered a lot of analysis paralysis trying to come up with a successful product idea and anxiety about failure. What helped me overcome this was changing my mindset from viewing my project as strictly a business to also a learning exercise.

So when I started working on my project, I chose to incorporate new technologies that I haven't worked with before: the new React hooks, GraphQL, and Golang to name a few. Therefore, even if the project is a bust, I will still have picked up some new skills that I could bring back to my team or use in future roles. This also helped reignite my passion and joy for programming that diminished since I started my career, which also translated to developing better in and out of work.

Because of this mindset, I've found there will always be a net-positive outcome from my IndieHacker journey and so my anxiety subsided drastically. I don't know how relatable my experience is, but wanted to share in case anyone was in a similar place!
