Hello IH,
Here's an idea that I haven't seen anyone do (yet), and I think it could have some potential.
Background: I have been in IT for more than 20 years, and in that time, I've had a lot of different jobs and a lot of different bosses.
When I was just starting my career in IT, I, like a lot of young people found myself "looking for a job". As I gained experience, became more marketable, and moved around to different jobs, I began to realize that I could do better than just "landing a job". I began to "look for a company" instead of just a job. I landed at a few good companies and felt fortunate to have done so; however, the next time I make a move, I will be "looking for a boss."
I have been fortunate in that I have had multiple opportunities to work for bosses who were way ahead of their time. I've had multiple bosses who were at least 10 years ahead in their thinking of the industry, the tech, the environment, etc. One that stands out for me was more than 20 years ahead. RR, if you are reading this, you know who you are. I routinely say a quiet thank you to RR, even though our lives took different paths and we haven't spoken in many years.
I was heavily influenced by several of these enormously talented individuals, and would have followed them to any company. (And in some cases got the opportunity to do just that.)
So, for the next generation of "boss searchers", what kind of tools and solutions could we build that would help searchers find their perfect boss, a boss who would help their employee make giant leaps in learning and management, like my boss RR did for me?
