More than one and half years ago I discovered D21 - Janeček voting method and I couldn't stop thinking about it. Karel Janeček is a Czech mathematician who was trying to come up with a voting method for constructive decision-making that can find the widest possible common consensus among a group of people.
This method is based on the fact that people have more than one positive vote and also a negative vote which helps to not only find the most popular option, but also eliminate options that are controversial (options that would get a lot of positive but also a lot of negative votes).
The biggest impact of this method would probably be in presidential or parliamentary elections but the method works for basically anything, even deciding on where to go for lunch with your colleagues or when to go for a trip with friends.
I am a firm believer that this method (or maybe another alternative) could make our decisions in society better and I think it is time to challenge the status quo where we simply vote with one vote and look at the most popular options.
This is why I build Just a poll, a simple online polls that are inspired by this voting system.
The specific rules of the polls are as follows:
In Just a poll voters have two positive and one negative votes in order to arrive at a better conclusion. One positive vote is required while other votes are completely optional. Second positive vote becomes available once a poll has at least 3 options and a negative vote becomes available once a poll has at least 4 options. The negative vote can be used only if both positive votes are used. The sum of the votes determines the result of the poll.
There are no user accounts, anyone can create a poll and anyone with whom you share the poll can vote. Everybody can vote once, but please note that as the vote is anonymous and on the internet, this cannot be 100 % enforced.

What do you think?
Would you like to see a broader adoption of alternative voting methods like this, not only online but also for important elections?
Also, what do you think of the app? Is it too simple? Intuitive? Would you use this for any polls that you run among your community or friends?
