A directory of Product Hunt launch case studies

I've been working my butt off lately on a website that curates examples of Product Hunt launches. I was working on a separate website and came across so many interesting case studies of indie hackers launching on Product Hunt. The main problem was that these stories were fragmented: people were sharing different parts of the stories on different social platforms or websites.

I've collected these on the one website and have organized them according to category. I've used the Chipmuck Theme on Wordpress, which seemed to be the easiest technical solution.

Check it out at PHLaunches.com

I would love any feedback or even any recommendations of launches to feature.

Which is that platform you used to launch the site?

I've updated the homepage of the website. Instead of clicking multiple times using the StartupStash like theme, I've now got all of the major categories on the main page. Clicking on the category takes you to the case studies, which are organized as blog posts.

I'm not fond of the design, but I'm hoping it reduces friction and makes it easier for people to look at the case studies. I'm hoping to monetize this via affiliate income so hope this encourages people to stick around

    Hi Jade

Nice collection. It would be really helpful if you could distribute the menus in a mega menu structure or a scroll tab system. (as like shown in carts).

    Good effort though!

I agree there. I didn't like the presentation, I thought it was asking people to do too many clicks. I wanted to test it though as it seemed to be a popular way of curating, especially with sites such as Startup Stash.

      I did create a basic page: https://phlaunches.com/home/

The formatting doesn't seem to work, so there aren't headings or the lists. Does the new page (other than design issues) make is easier for you?

I appreciate your response. I had been struggling with how to organize the information for so long.

The basic page looks much better, but still you can show both the menus & its results in one page itself without making users click. Think of the filtering options in Amazon, tripadvisor etc..

Let me know if you need help with UIUX

I would appreciate it if you could show me examples of what you mean. I'm not very good at the UI/UX or design side of things

I did try to set it up to have all the content listed on the one page but it was really overwhelming. I'm thinking now that each link can take you to an overview of the each category and that in each category I'll show the full posts.

    Hi Jade

This is a great resource!, thank you!
it would be great if there could be an airtable or gsheet with all this info.

Thank you for your response. I had wanted to organize the information in an Airtable database but didn't think you could use links in the fields. After doing some reading, it looks like you can!

I'll get something set up in a couple of days. I'll give people the choice of how they want to look at the information: Airtable or the website. Thanks again

Good idea. This would for sure be a long play on SEO. But a good project!

I just checked it out on mobile: the homepage blocks for the categories are very large. I would make them smaller for mobile and maybe add some fun icons for each category. You're site also did not force SSL/https. You should add force SSL/https since Chrome (and I think Firefox) will give a big red flag to users that you site is not secure. Their are WordPress plugins that do it, or you can edit you sites htaccess file to do it

Thank you so much, I appreciate it.

I know this isn't a good project for SEO. The goal was to create something that would generate word of mouth, just because there isn't anything else like it. I had already curated a lot of case studies as part of https://bootstrapper.directory/ and wanted to experiment with a different way of displaying them.

I will look into the security issue - It's something I'm not really familiar with. I know I often have to manually type in https if I want a website to show up as being secure.

I also appreciate the feedback on the design. It is something I agree with and is a frustration with the Wordpress theme. There wasn't much room for customization, unless I wanted a group of featurd images from the category. I've changed it so it displays the categories as cards instead of tiles. Hopefully this makes for a better reading experience.

Thank you again, it is very much appreciated. It really helps

No problem. I actually just wrote this article for you on how to force https on your site, even wordpress.

I was actually saying that your new site WOULD be an SEO play. Generating articles over time and building the search traffic.

I launched on PH today. https://www.producthunt.com/posts/the-coincept

The launch has been a dud so far.

Your project will help in knowing the stories of successful launches at one place.

I've look at so many examples of different types of launches on Product Hunt. In this case, I think your launch could have benefitted from improving the content you had on the page on Product Hunt. Those who have had successful launches often have better graphics and descriptions.

This isn't a criticism, as I know how hard it can be to make and launch a product. The reality is that Product Hunt launches have become an important part of many businesses marketing plan and the community now has high expectations. I've voted for your product, but I also only joined today so it probably wont mean anything

Thank you for the feedback. I take this criticism positively. I think design is something I totally not good at. Will learn and improve on it.
        Thanks for the upvote.

Some how it's never worked for me lol.

That's something I'm finding as I collect these case studies. Launching can be hit and miss and it doesn't always reflect on the product, sometimes it can be more about novelty or community strength. Did you do a write up of any of your launches? I'm trying to collect case studies of different type of launches, even ones that may not have done well.
