a few interesting business ideas + how do you transcribe audio?
I just listened to the 'My First Million' podcast from The Hustle. I enjoyed it. I wanted to copy and paste a few points from some of their more interesting business ideas. So I paid money to get it transcribed. It is about 95% accurate. I didn't love the process. What do you use to transcribe audio?
I posted the transcription in a google doc and did a bit more research about their most interesting ideas. You can find that here.
The business ideas I really liked were:
cloud kitchens
Y-Combinator for movies
Welcome box for remote workers
Better financial software
Tiger Nut Milk a milk alternative
Of those, I think Y-Combinator for movies, Welcome box for remote workers, and Better financial software seem well suited for an indiehacker.
Thanks for sharing the goods, Josh! Sadly I can't read your post due to paywall, but I did manage to get to the transcript - thanks for putting it in first paragraph.
For transcribing I've used Rev with great success (quick turnaround and excellent accuracy after human review) as well as Descript (though focused on podcast space).
I've been ruminating the remote worker welcome box for some time, more from the perspective of kits including laptop stand, wireless keyb/mouse, headphones, external monitor.
Aw man. Here is the Medium friend link - https://medium.com/@joshdance/my-first-million-million-dollar-brainstorm-unicorn-signals-alternative-milk-movie-9ca1cd78e4c7?source=friends_link&sk=47f70f9f7957bf1c969e2f94f7971be9
Yeah I think streamlining remote work is a super interesting space.
I don't see any tech product adding huge value, Slack video calls, and Google Docs fill most of our remote worker needs. But getting your office setup awesome seems like a good value add.
I wonder if it is worth it just to make a page about the best office gear with affiliate links?
Thanks, that one worked! A quick Google search indicates it's a saturated market for home-based remote workers, but seems open on nomadic ones (portable monitor, collapsible laptop stand, all accessories USB-C for solo charger)
