A follow-up 24 hour Sales challenge would be great after 24-Hour startup challenge
OK, let me clarify this first. I have nothing against building a "startup" in 24 hours though I think the term is used wrong. Pat Walls did a great initiative and I honestly think that's great. Since this community is mostly filled with devs--unless you have severe impostor syndrome and a lot of "developer's block" we can produce a project in a week or a month if dedicated. I know 24-hour startup challenge tried to solve the dedication issue and that's great but is that what it's all about? After reading lots of posts that say //I am a developer, not a marketer// in this forum, I think what would be more valuable for is, the creators of those project marketing their product. A sales challenge. Get X number of customers in 24 hours. Watching that would be a lot more valuable.

Funnily enough, I tried something like this last weekend.
Haven't had time to do a full write up yet and am really short on time now, but TLDR is made no sales over the weekend itself (in 9hrs) but, with no extra work, had made $600 three days later. People just took a while to read teh emails and reply :)

I agree. I'd like to watch someone market and handle sales live. I know how the development side of things go but not the sales/business/marketing side.

A friend once challenged me to earn $ on the internet in less than 4 hrs. I put a Wix site together, spoke with potential customers and made $20 after ~3 hrs or so. Nothing came out of it in the end, but it was great fun. Definitely possible to do!
I wanted to do something related to a 24 hour challenge for sales.
What do you think of a this idea: a Sales Challenge Week for 24hr shippers.
The way I was thinking of doing it is picking six 24 hour challengers and streaming a 4 hour block for 24 hrs in total. I'd help people get started with initial sales for their product and viewers can follow along on Twitch and ask questions.
This way different timezones can participate. It's hard to do sales when you reach out to people when they are sleeping.
I can replay the whole stream on a Saturday since that's when its easiest to watch.
I definitely prefer marketing tips and 24h sales challenge would be nice, even if 24h sales are a too short time-frame for a process that involves other humans decisions.

I participated into #24hrstartup and shipped rounditt.com, The community for sharing books.
Honestly, when I submitted my request to join the challenge I was working on another project and gave it my time and efforts as I'm planning for it to become huge.
But things could change always, As when I shipped rounditt.com my plan was just to ship it and let's see what will happen.
Next day I wake up fixing bugs, reading more about books communities, & I put in my plan once I will finish bugs and enhancements(Which is necessary, no additional or new features) I'm going for the nest part of the journey which is Marketing and getting more and more users.
But marketing results is not something you can get within 24 hours if i'm right
This is a really great idea.
It would be really interesting to see how people handle that live, and how they grind at acquiring their users.
But I feel like there is also some kind of secrecy when talking about marketing/sales.
