A great cold email I replied from Rippling. What do you think are 3 things that stand out in this email? 🤔

    I like how it starts "harmless" and clever and asks a question, which is always good. The invitation for lunch(first mention) is arousing curiosity as to what they mean which is kind of a hook, really. It's specific(how you'll get your lunch/doordash) and beneficial off the bat, and they also make you think they are confident off the bat because they put something on the table, hinting they expect to get good response, and they are giving as opposed to taking which is... uncommon ? What they offer is also very tangible which has an impact as opposed to a digital gift, for example(or maybe I'm just hungry lol). All they ask in return for the 'free' lunch is to talk(if you face the problems they suggest). Their service is clear and concise and the incentive is personal which is a bit unique. They empathise with you by calling out the current situation(covid). It's written in a plain, conversational English which is always an indicator of a great Copy. They make sure to filter through the wrong people by further explaining("for example") who this offer is for, thus preventing wasted free lunches and time/energy on their part and the same on yours(excluding lunch lol). Calling out 'Pain Points' for emotional response. By asking if there's an interest they give out a vibe of "we don't have to have you it's cool" which is smart on many levels for multiple reasons(not pushy for example). They remind you of what is coming next(zoom call) but also the free lunch you'll miss by not accepting their offer. They end on a personal level(John). They repeat the "I don't NEED you but I'd be happy if" thing in the very end which is smart, to end with that in your mind. And of course an "executive" wrote this to you personally....

    Phew... Nice email!! I totally dig this. I bookmarked it. What do you think of this breakdown ?

      Wow this was an extensive analysis of the email! Thanks for it! Super helpful to have another pair of eyes looking at this great copy/email strategy.

      To sum up to 3 points, would you say that what makes it such a great email is:
      1- They give something and instead of asking for time, they say it would be nice if I could take the time to listen them? (basically it's a humble email)
      2- Great copy that makes the flow easy to follow
      3- They know to whom they are talking and know how to create some curiosity
      ?

        If I'm being honest I'm pretty good at breaking things down but far less effective in putting them back together in an orderly manner... I'm working on that part. If I had to name the most crucial elements I think my 3 would be something like:

        Clear, confident offer.
        Leads with Curiosity.
        Offering Value throughout.

        I have to say, I dont think 3 bullet points really sums up why this works. More like 7 or 8, at least in my eyes.

        I personally don't experience the pain ponits they pressed on with my business so I am not the target audience. Maybe this email hits different with the target audienece... My take is only from a Copy standpoint. I'm pretty sure a couple of things flew over my head, for example the Structure and Stacking Order is almost always the last thing I notice.

        If you're into Copy, I recomend you check out VeryGoodCopy and HoneyCopy. I'm sure you'll find value there. Also, theres a newsletter with one of the best copywriters alive, old school giant at AskDrayton. He sends daily copy gems to your inbox. A book I would say is a game changer is Breakthrough Advertising.

    Everyday I receive tons of cold emails. But somehow this one sets apart from the others.
    One thing I noticed was the awesome timing with such a creative approach.

        ahah name personalization is always good but not sufficient anymore :)

        I would say it's the word "question" that it's interesting here. We often associate these kinds of emails to emails from prospects I would say, so we are keener to take the effort and answer the email! Then we are surprised with an invite for lunch...
