Ever sit down and write a list of your competitors?
Here's our competitors at HypeLetter. You and I might share some competitors!
We've built a simple sales page for newsletters to sell sponsorships without the back and forth bullshit.
- Apathy: Some writers don't do ads.
- Memberships: Some writers only want to charge their readers.
- Naivete: Some writers don't know where to start selling.
- Google Sheets: Some writers (like me for 1 year) keep all sales info in a google sheet.
- Zapier: Adding zapier to the mix to automate takes less time.
- Marketplaces: We are not a marketplace. Many come to us to find sponsors, but we don't do that. Maybe we should be a marketplace if people keep mistaking us for one.
Confused - Uclusion just lists our competitors and our reviews of them off of our landing page. Also confused how you avoid the back and forth - when we bought an ad on a newsletter there was back and forth to determine the contents. Or do these sponsorships not include ads?
You review your competitors? I have seen a few different tactics when discussing competitors. Sometimes it's a blog article with "VS" in the title. In a pitch deck it'll usually have some graph, all the competitors lined up across the graph and the company being pitched is up and to the right away from all the rest.
Regarding the sponsorships: Right now we simply put all the info a sponsor might want to know on the sales page. You can see an example of our embed on this page: https://vuejsdevelopers.com/newsletter/sponsor
It decreases the questions: when's the next ad? What's the price? Can you invoice me?
Just today I had an ad buyer marvel at the fact that we sent a receipt right away. The could download and print it as an invoice.
Newsletter writers didn't get into writing newsletters to make invoices.
I can dig this. While I can’t deny apathy, I can openly state I don’t feel as if I have the time.
You send a regular email? Do you put ads for anything in right now? Affiliate links, your own projects? Or do you have people reaching out to you to ask if you would include some content that might be good for your audience?
