A mental model for B2B growth: The Trust Economy

Hey IH,

For years, the B2B grind was about chasing leads and "building a network." It felt inefficient because it failed to address the core problem in any B2B transaction: the asymmetry of information. The buyer always has less information than the seller, which creates friction and risk.

The game has changed. We're now in a "Trust Economy."

The winners aren't the best networkers; they're the ones who are best at solving that information asymmetry. They do this by leveraging platforms (like Clutch, G2, etc.) that provide verified proof of their skills.

This "targeted visibility" in trusted ecosystems is no longer a "nice to have." It's a core strategy for building authority and making it easy for high-intent buyers to find you.

I wrote a deeper dive into this mental model and how freelancers and bootstrapped agencies can use it to compete.

No email gate, just the framework.

Has anyone else felt this shift away from cold outreach and towards building platform-based, verifiable trust?
