Hi IH, my friend @HelenRyles who has made more products than I could ever think of, has written this incredible piece on how to stand out from the crowd.
Method + Beliefs

Thanks Val!
People often say a product needs a ‘hook’ but don’t actually show you how to figure one out! I wanted to help with that.
I’ve always found having a Method + defining Values to be really helpful when starting a new product.
If anyone needs any examples of what they could do for their product, I’ll make some suggestions! :)
Great read! I'm working on https://brisa.io/videos/
My goal is super easy videos. I don't think I'm there yet.
I think videos are one of the few things I've worked on that can help with social causes and indie hackers, so I've put a bit about getting in touch for people in those areas.
I don't think I have any good "what I stand for" on that landing page. It's good to think about!
Helen, oh yes!!! I've heard that about our SaaS https://www.depositfix.com/ any tips would be highly appreciated. It's pretty technical, but it's really a payment integration for HubSpot.
Hey Natalie,
Sure! So I took a look at DepositFix and it looks neat and professional! You’ve got that part nailed. That’s great for an industry like payments where security is key.
It doesn’t make me feel anything though! It’s fine but not compelling. Your social proof of transactions and other businesses is nice but what about customer stories?
Are you more aligned with individual creators who want to start getting paid for their passions (like Gumroad) or are you
helping non-technical founders build NoCode businesses (like Carrd) or are you simplifying the complex world of payments with robust integrations (like Stripe and Zapier)
At the minute who you are as a company isn’t very clear.
Get clear on your team values and pick a top 3. They might be Security, Simplicity, & Fairness. Then look at how and where they show up in your product and customer experience, maybe change some policies to reflect that.
Take a look at your traffic and customers. If they are in a particular job role or are in a type of industry, think about what they care about and how you can help them with more than just their payment forms.
Hope that helps!
